Average Cost To Build?
It's hard to give an "average" cost to build a new custom home. Especially in Oregon because as I am sure you know; Oregon has some of the highest prices for land and higher than average living expenses. For a mid-range home your cost per square foot will be around $150-$175 per square foot. This covers a Quartz counter, cultured stone siding, hardwood floors, stainless appliances, etc. There are a lot of factors that go into a home build so please take this with a grain of salt. Each home is different.
How Long Does It Take?
On average, our custom home builds in Oregon take three to four months from the time we are given the green light by the codes office until the home is ready for occupancy. There are many cases where we have built quicker but the administrative side of the process and waiting for inspectors during each step of the build can slow us down.
Best Area To Build?
The best area to build is truly wherever you feel most comfortable living. Land in Oregon to build a custom home on can be a larger expense than in other states but the features of Oregon certainly make it worth the price.
Will I Have Home Equity?
Depending on the land that you choose to build on you could have significant equity in the home. When we are selling homes that we've built ourselves that were not a custom order; our clients can expect anywhere from 25-30% home equity upon completion. Also keep into consideration that Homes in Oregon are increasing in value every year.
